Book Lungs Occurs In
The air inhaled moves down the trachea into the lungs where oxygen is exchanged for carbon dioxide from the body tissues.
Book lungs occurs in. The air is also warmed and moistened so it won t harm delicate tissues of the lungs. Each lung is surrounded by a two layered membrane lining pleura that attaches the lungs to the chest cavity. Book lung form of respiratory organ found in certain air breathing arachnid arthropods scorpions and some spiders.
Carbon dioxide is then exhaled out of the lungs through the mouth. Air enters the respiratory system through the nose. The lungs are the organs in which gas exchange takes place between blood and air.
Each book lung consists of a series of thin plates that are highly vascular i e richly supplied with blood and are arranged in relation to each other like the pages of a book. This is necessary so the lungs can expand and contract during breathing. The lungs are surrounded by two thin membranes called pleura which secrete a fluid that allows the lungs to move freely within the pleural cavity.
The main image shows the location of the lungs pleura and diaphragm. The lungs are the largest organs of the respiratory tract. The space between these two layers is called the pleural cavity.
The other line is based on fossil evidence which suggests that early scorpions were aquatic together with a putative sister group relationship between scorpions and the aquatic eurypterida. It is the largest organ of the human respiratory system. They are suspended within the pleural cavity of the thorax.
Respiration in humans takes place through the lungs. The human body contains two lungs of which one is positioned on the left side of the chest cavity and the other on the right side. The inset image shows a closer view of the two layers of the pleura and the pleural space.
